Digitization and the Buddhist and Asian Studies
Toyo Gakuen University, Japan
Supplied note:
"Colleagues, I have posted an article entitled 'Digitization and the
Revolution in the Media of Buddhist and Asian Studies: Where We Have
Come, and Where We Are Going' which some of you may find interesting."
Site contents: Organizing the Information; E-Journals; Databases; Birth of the EBTI
[Electronic Buddhist Text Initiative];
Examples of Application; Not Only Texts; Tasks at Hand; The Future of
Academic Publishing: Some Predictions; Libraries; Acknowledgments.
[Although the need for high quality online scholarly information is
mentioned once or twice, this seems to be a mere ritual as the paper's
masthead forgets to specify its 'raison d'etre', the date of the
publication, and the URL. A note of 21 Sep 99: some of these shorthcomings have
been rectified by the paper's author within minutes of receiving the
Monitor's review - ed.]
