Southeast Asian Deltas Reference and Research Site
Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand
Supplied note:
"The Irrawadi, Chao Phraya, Mekong and Red-River deltas are areas of
major importance in Souteast Asia: rice bowls with rapid agricultural
intensification and diversification, and similar problems of water
management (too much water in the rainy season, not enough in the dry
season); regions with high interaction between urban and rural
domains, agricultural and non-agricultural economic sectors (migration,
social and cultural change); growing environmental hazards (degradation
of water quality, destruction of coastal areas, pesticide over-use,
uncontrolled waste dumps, etc).
Those interested in issues related to [SE Aasian] deltas (history, natural
resource management, rural sociology, demography, economics,
agriculture, etc..) to visit [the site] at:"

[A potentially valuable research tool vandalised by its own
interface. Black background, untidy
Java scripting, massive decorative graphics, and a pointless
ticker message racing across the screen, all ruin the
site - ed.]
