Pre-Confucian I Ching Hexagrams Index
History and Sociology of Science, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA
Supplied note:
"Shaughnessy Edward L. 1996. 'I Ching. The Classic of
Changes.' Classics of Ancient China. New York: Ballantine
Books. Shaughnessy has an unequalled command of inscriptions
and other writing from ca. 1450 B.C. to the Han. He applies
it here to translate the variant MS of the _I_ excavated at
Mawangdui, Hunan, in 1973, and translates the familiar text
alongside it. He also translates the late commentaries found
with it, including the familiar 'Appended Comments' (Hsi
tz'u of the Ten Wings) and five previously unknown similar
commentaries. This is the *first* integral translation of
the Changes to reconstruct the pre-Confucian meaning."
