International Association for the Promotion of Cooperation with Scientists
from the New Independent States of the Former Soviet Union (INTAS), Belgium
Supplied note: "As of November 3 [1997 - ed.], proposals will be
accepted for research projects and networks in support of the New
Independent States of the former Soviet Union. The research subjects
to be supported include among other sciences: Economics, Social
Sciences, Humanities, Environment, Engineering, Energy, Information
Technologies and Mathematics. A total of 21.8 Million ECU is made
available through these programmes. Since its creation in 1993 and up
to the end of 1996, INTAS has provided direct funding to help support
more than 1,200 research projects involving some 15,000 scientists in
Armenia, Azerbaidjan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan,
Moldova, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine,
Uzbekistan."
