Self-description: "The Library's collection throughout the system
records an accessioned total of 1,112,578 volumes of printed books,
bound journals, manuscripts and Braille material. The non-print
collection has 508,608 units of materials in the forms of audio-video
formats, microforms, slides, etc. The Library receives 8,521 titles of
periodicals on current subscription and as gifts. The collection also
covers various subject areas; in various scripts (Arabic, Tamil,
Chinese, Japanese, etc.) and languages (Malay, English, Chinese,
Japanese, Tamil, Arabic, etc."
