The Centre, established in Feb 1994, in addition to covering the
Middle East (Iran, Turkey, Israel, and the Arab world, including North
Africa), carries out the research on the newly independent Muslim states of Central
Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan),
as well as Afghanistan and Pakistan.
