Conserving Tibetan Art and Architecture
China Exploration & Research Society (CERS), USA/Hong Kong
A new web site dedicated to the preservation of Tibetan monastic
architecture and traditional mural painting. The CERS is operating a
program (supported by the Getty Grant) of expert conservation of
endangered monastic sites. A major component of the program is
training for young Tibetans wishing to learn the art and science of
restoration. Two monasteries in Kham (Palpung and Baiya Monasteries)
are being repaired, with the program to expand as funds allow.
