When the three tsunamis (tidal waves) crashed onto the shores of Aitape on the north-western coast of Papua New Guinea on 17 July last year, some locals say they saw fire on the crest of the waves.

PNG tsunami one year on: life after the wave
Community Aid Abroad responded immediately to this emergency, and continues to provide support in the year following the disaster. The organisations work is based around Aitape, the town nearest to the tsunami (tidal wave) area.
