    The Grawemeyer Award for Ideas for Improving World Order, awarded annually by the University of Louisville, Kentucky USA, was awarded to Senator Gareth Evans in April 1995.

    The prize monies are to be used to foster research and activities in Australia aimed at improving the global order, particularly in the areas of cooperative security, peace building, preventive diplomacy, United Nations reform and related subjects.

    Applications are invited for the following :

    (a) Scholarship support : Evans Grawemeyer Scholarships
    Two scholarships of $5,000 may be awarded each year for PhD scholars in relevant subject areas, to be tenable at any Australian tertiary institution for three years.

    (b) Research fellowships : Evans Grawemeyer Fellowships
    One travelling fellowship of A$6,000 to be awarded each year to enable research to be undertaken on a project, on relevant subjects, for up to three months at the United Nations or related institutions in New York (or other relevant locations).

    (c) Two study fellowships of $3,000 to be awarded each year for short-term study or a project on relevant subjects at Australian institutions.
