This document is a part of a larger collection of the AnthroGlobe specialist bibliographies. It forms a subsection of the Asian Studies WWW VL and Pacific Studies WWW VL. Do you have any corrections or addenda to this bibliography? If so, contact the Editor at the email address listed above. Your input will be gratefully received and acknowledged. The literature on time is clearly vast and complicated. In this bibliography I have tried to include a significant sampling of some of the classic and standard writings from philosophy, psychology, physics, and sociology, but I have been primarily interested in developing a bibliography on the anthropology of time. Much of the anthropological writing on time is often obscurely hidden in various ethnographies and is often brief and scattered. In a number of specific ethnographies I give page references or references to particular chapters in which discussions of time are found. Clearly I have not read all the ethnographies ever written and have therefore missed material on time that appears in many of the works of anthropologists. I invite readers to add these to the bibliography. I have also included a sampling of writings that might be labeled "the Western folk model of time,” i.e., stuff that usually comes under the rubric of "time management.” The bibliography contains more than 750 items and is limited so far to items in English. - Robert Lawless.
