itemWelcome Reception

National Convention Centre
Tuesday 29 June at 6pm

The Welcome Reception will be held in the foyer of the National Convention Centre with the official opening of the book/trade display. The cost of attending is included in the registration fees for full registrants and extra display staff. The cost for day registrants and guests is $40.

itemLuncheon at National Press Club

National Press Club, Barton ACT
Wednesday 30 June 12.00-2.00pm

Transfers depart from NCC 11.30am
An optional luncheon will be held at the National Press Club in Canberra on Wednesday 30 June, featuring as a speaker Professor Yu. Tickets (which include transfers by bus between the Convention Centre and the Press Club) will cost $54 for ASAA and NZASAA members, $65 for non-members and $42 for students. Buses will leave the NCC at about 11:30am, a gourmet lunch is served at 12 noon; and the speaker address, followed by questions and answers, last from 1pm to 2pm. No refunds within 48 hours. itemGuided Tour of National Library of Australia

Wednesday 30 June at 3.30-5.00pm

A behind-the-scenes and into-the-stacks look at the massive Asia-Pacific collection of the National Library. The cost of attending (incl. transport) is included in all registration fees.

Menzies Library, ANU
Wednesday 30 June at 5.30pm

Reception is hosted by ANU Library and National Institute of Asia and the Pacific. It will introduce the Asian Studies collection of the ANU Library and the work of ANU's National Institute for Asia and the Pacific. The cost of attending is included in all registration fees.

itemConference Dinner

Members' Dining Room, Old Parliament House
Thursday 1 July at 7.00pm for 7.30pm

Restored to its 1927 elegance, the Members' Dining Room offers sweeping views of the Parliament House. Conference Dinner is not included in any registration and the cost of the ticket is $90 per person. Please book early as the seats are limited. Transfers from Conference hotels will be provided.

itemDay trip to the snow

Thredbo, Kosciuszko National Park, NSW
Saturday 3 July 2004, 5.30am - 6.30pm (13 hrs)

Kosciuszko is one of the best known and best loved national parks in Australia and one of the largest in the world. It attracts around three million visitors each year and contains most of Australia's snow and all of NSW's alpine zone, glacial features and ski fields. Cross-country skiing is popular with afficionados.

The day trip is not included in any registration and the cost is $165 per person. It includes return luxury coach travel, unrestricted lift pass, two-hour lesson, Kosciuszko National Park entry fees and lunch at Cascades Restaurant at Thredbo Alpine Hotel. Upgrades of ski hire and clothing are available at extra cost ($22pp and $35pp respectively).

Asia Bookroom, Belconnen
Saturday 3 July 10.00am-12.00pm

Asia Bookroom hosts a reception and book exhibition. The cost of attending is included in all registration fees. The coaches will depart from Conference hotels.

Menzies Library, ANU
Saturday 3 July 1.00-5.00 pm

By special arrangement with the ANU Library, the Menzies Library housing the main Asian Studies collection will be open for use.
